Hey #TheScriptFamily!
This past year has been crazy, not only for myself but also for our favorite lads! They toured No Sound Without Silence worldwide and the record even went platinum. This past weekend, they played their biggest concert to date, headlining the sold out Croke Park. 82,000 people for a homecoming show is nothing short of impressive, and saying that we are immensely proud of them is an understatement.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, June 23rd) is an extremely significant date in my life. Not only is it my birthday, but it is a day that should be remembered by all of our fellow Scriptettes and Scriptons. Lauren, aka @TheScriptUK, was a huge supporter of the lads and unfortunately took her life during the early hours of June 23, 2012 (Please do not confuse her with Lauren/Loz, who runs the successful @ScriptLoveUK fanpage). This year will be the third anniversary of Lauren’s passing. This event was very personal to me as I was the last person to talk to her on Twitter before she left us. Although I regret that I didn’t intervene months before this happened and that I was not able to do more to help Lauren, I believe that it is vital to carry out her memory. That day three years ago, the whole fan base was completely shocked to hear the news. When it was confirmed, we came together and held a Twitter minute of silence for Lauren, which involved everyone not tweeting or retweeting anything for a full minute. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever been a part of. I would like to honor Lauren’s life every year by doing this. Whether you knew her or even had a Twitter account three years ago, I think it would be lovely for all fans to get involved. Many of us can relate to dealing with low times in our lives and being a victim of bullying. It’s important to remember that we are all here for one another no matter what.
On Tuesday, June 23rd, please join me in a Twitter minute of silence for Lauren at 8 PM UK time. This year, I will also be running a Tumblr minute of silence at the same time through my page (borntoleavethistownbehind) so please feel free to join in there as well. In addition, we decided when we heard the news of Lauren’s passing that her song would be “If You Ever Come Back.” If possible, listen to it once on Tuesday and think of a beautiful girl who was taken away too soon from us. I know that she will be looking down on us and will be grateful to see our fan base come together and put our differences aside. It’s the least she deserves.
Lots of love,
Katya
