Hearing the voice echo and little feet on the hard floor he sighed.
But seeing his little girl rounding the corner he smiled, “What my love?”
Hugging her tight she was clutching her blanket as she pulled away, “Mumma.. mumma she-she said-“
“Slow down my love.” Roger and Millie had learned how to help their daughter and her stutter early on, but sometimes she needed reminding she had to take it easy.
“Mumma, she said you were at the studio and I wanted to know if you saw Uncle Johnny.”
He smiled at that, “I sure did see Uncle Johnny, and you know what he said to make sure you got these.”
Holding out a handful of coins to put in her bank the little girl smiled, Johnny spoiled her.
“Thanks Daddy.”
It was then they heard Millie’s voice and seeing the mum head down the stairs with a frown Millie nearly smiled as their daughter let out “Oops.”
“Someone was supposed to be in bed. I see someone didn’t listen to me that Daddy would come in to say goodnight.”
Roger grinned at that and scooping their daughter up said, “All right lets go. Daddy will tuck you in, say goodnight to Mumma my love.”
And smacking a kiss to her cheek Millie smiled watching them head upstairs, Roger throwing a “daddy will be back to say hello to mummy in a bit.”
